Island Bay Beach
On the last Saturday of May, we all came together for a warm and cozy breakfast. The breakfast was a fundraising event to raise funds for breast cancer. This year during May, the Breast Cancer Foundation (New Zealand) held a Pink Ribbon Breakfast campaign. The Bridge wanted to show our love and support for the Breast Cancer Foundation, so we decided to join the event. Apart from supporting the charity, our main focus was to support our sisters out there. Although we had a small group, the breakfast was a success, and we managed to raise some funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation. Overall, we all had a fantastic time and The Bridge thanks all the members for coming!
Our beach clean up was held on Friday the 23rd of April. Beach clean-ups are important as they help improve the coastal and ocean ecosystem. By cleaning up the beach, we ensure that none of the trash impacts our marine life or is dangerous enough to disrupt the marine life cycle.
With the cold wind blowing strongly against us, we managed to fight the weather and finish the clean up successfully. During the clean up we found interesting things along the beach, including glass, plates and wires. All of these items are harmful to our marine ecosystem. With the help of our volunteers, we managed to clean most of it away.
Overall, the beach clean up was a success, and we all had a great time. The Bridge thanks all the volunteers for coming, and we hope to see you guys again next time!
